5 Quick Tips to Help you Build a Successful Blog
Let’s talk about blogging as today we are exploring 5 quick tips to help you build a successful blog. I’m really excited to be going on this journey with you this week. If I’m been honest with you which I always am, blogging is my absolute favourite writing thing to do. I fell in love with blogging when I started my business and to this day it is still one of my greatest loves. It lights me up every time I write for you, with the opportunity to share my knowledge, it is really cool because it’s all about the growth and learning. Well enough about me let’s get into the blog content.
Our blog gives us the opportunity to express our thoughts, feelings, and expertise, be the thought leader and share stories with our audience. The blog is out there teaching them; showing them the way and helping them take whatever subject you are taking about into tips they can take into their life.
Today I’m sharing 5 tips that I believe will help you start crafting your blog into a successful platform.
Your audience and clients language
Let’s start at the beginning, which is in order for your blog to speak directly to your clients and audience it needs to be about them. The reason you are writing the blog is sharing information for them and helping them their journey.
I want you to have a think about what are your clients/audiences biggest challenges right now? What are you promoting and currently selling? Look at your website and marketing material, if you have done your research well this is what your audience wants to know about. Once you are clear on their wants, create the content for them.
What language do they use when you speak to them, in their emails, on social media and past surveys you have done. If you are not sure do a new survey or have a chat to a few of them, as knowledge is power. Use their language and repeat back their words to them when you are blogging. It will speak true and touch them on a deeper level, which at the end of the day it’s our greatest gift to our audience.
Write from the heart
I know most of you reading this are heart based business owners because we are key to making a difference in the world. This is often why we started a business to change lives and have more freedom in our own personal lives.
Keep this in mind, your audience is often going to be heart felt people too so speak to them this way. The way you blog should be very similar to what you share in person if you were on a stage or in a video. Be the storyteller by sharing information, your own personal stories and what you have learnt that can help them.
Another extra tip which I just thought of which I would share in this section is blog like you are talking to one person. It’s just like writing a letter but instead you are writing this on a blog.
This is often where a lot of businesses fall down with blogging and that is consistency. When you plan your blog (more on this below) make sure you publish at the same time each week, fortnight or month. This is in order to build engagement for your readers, which will come back on a regular basis.
There is no right or wrong with how many times you choose to blog, every business is unique and different. For me personally I publish only two blogs per month at the start of the week. I picked the start of the week as I think it starts the week off to a good start (well fortnight in this case). Writing a longer blog post every fortnight works for me and more importantly for my audience. How many times do you blog per month? It would great if you could share with me below.
Plan your blog content subjects
Planning is the key in your business and your blog is included in this. Instead of blogging about whatever you feel like, lets instead have a strategy. Like this month here on the blog I am talking about blogging and last month it was about social media content. I plan it this way and I can also link the posts up so I can share more information with you, what a bonus.
It also helps you because you can get organised early, know your subjects in advance and even write the posts early if you get the opportunity. Trust me it’s changed my business and it will help you change yours too.
Promote your blog once you have published it
This seems like a logical one but it’s the key to get more eyeballs on your content. Use social media to your advantage and share your knowledge by inspiring other’s with your expertise. I have found Facebook groups a really good place to start, as my target audience is in there. I then share it across my entire social media platforms such as Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn and Google Plus. You never know you might gain some new readers in the process.
